Artist Statement
Since I was a child I have always needed to express myself in a creative way. Throughout my life this has happened mainly through Art and sports: freedom to create, energy and discipline to reach my goals and dreams. I used to play with puzzles and colouring books a great deal and I like to believe "dotting" was an evolution of my favourite childhood games, as a different way to colour an image using drops of colour, becoming dots to compose the picture, like pieces of a puzzle.
"Dotting" is the meditative part of the process: the drops falling, colour on colour, shade on shade, to create a three-dimensional texture of dots which attracts the viewer, engaging them from a visual perception to a tactile one. I believe in the strength of my technique in enhancing the image I chose to work with.
I have a total freedom subject wise from my earlier figurative, Pop Art style through to monochrome pieces which are closer to a minimal and conceptual style. I have also experimented with different materials: fabrics, clothes, accessories and objects. I always love to create something new, finding new levels to my Art and stretching the boundaries to see how far it can go.
